Come back stronger - AMTA Insane Tour 2017

Image
Due to my frustrations of last year's Insane Tour and envy to the finishers, I started my regular bike training as early as January. I will finish this time coz I can. I am now with a new line-up of a 5-man-team - the Thundercats B with Victor "Dondon" Merto as our Team Captain. We also have Allan Leon Pujida my co-team phoenix last year, and our tour rookies Romel Gulfan and Christian Redemio. Our aim is to finish in 36 hours or less compared to the others who aimed the traditional 24 hours or less. Our Thundercats Team is a 4-man-team lead by Abner "Abski" Ramirez since the assigned captain-Dexter Catubay won't be able to join this year due to his father's illness. Team A is stronger and faster, with its members Dennis Selmar, 15-Year-Old Sandy Boi Erediano and Ruvie "Rubas Bolantoy" Basabe. We have a guest team this year which is the Team Big Ring. Other AMTA teams organized were Team Wild Cats, Photon Panthers and Che...

My Top 5 Bike Destinations for Newbie in Cebu

Image
A newbie to biking and tired of spinning around your backyard? Let me share with you some wonderful bike destinations. The places I am about to discuss are both enjoyable by road bike and mountain bike users since we’ll be dealing with concrete roads here. Oh, don’t forget this friendly reminder to always wear your helmet, shoes and bring along spare tubes, patches, water, tools and hand pump. Extra cash is a must too. Arm warmer and eyewear are optional but essential. Of course, you don’t wanna miss taking photos of your rides and boast it on social media so ensure your phone is fully charged. I am not more into Trails and Downhill since my mountain bike sports a rigid fork and regular tires which is much suitable for road and cross country rides. The following destinations below are not just for a newbie but also ideal for those who aspire to improve their long ride endurance and uphill skills. I recommend tagging along with your friends or a bike buddy bu...

Willy's - A biker's haven

Image
Willy's - Does it ring a bell? Well, it does to most of Cebu's avid bikers, may it be Roadie or MTB. A lot of bikers from Cebu City regularly ride their bike to Willy's during weekdays before or after going to work/school. Some bikers from nearby town often visit the place during weekends. Willy's, derived from the store owner's name - Willy. The store is located in Busay, Cebu City.  The store's official name, by the way, is "Darwin Store" but local bikers prefer to call the place Willy's. Approximately 6 kilometers away from JY Square Mall; which most average bikers took 20-30minutes to get there with a normal pacing but 15 minutes or less to the strong ones. Willy and his family are very accommodating to their every biker customers. They regularly serve snacks and refreshments such as Tempura, Fishball, Hard boiled eggs, banana cue, Gatorade, and sodas. "Bihon" may add up during weekends. Your 50 to 100 bucks will do this e...
