Willy's - A biker's haven

Willy's - Does it ring a bell?

Well, it does to most of Cebu's avid bikers, may it be Roadie or MTB.

A lot of bikers from Cebu City regularly ride their bike to Willy's during weekdays before or after going to work/school. Some bikers from nearby town often visit the place during weekends.

Willy's, derived from the store owner's name - Willy.
The store is located in Busay, Cebu City.  The store's official name, by the way, is "Darwin Store" but local bikers prefer to call the place Willy's.

Approximately 6 kilometers away from JY Square Mall; which most average bikers took 20-30minutes to get there with a normal pacing but 15 minutes or less to the strong ones.

Willy and his family are very accommodating to their every biker customers.
They regularly serve snacks and refreshments such as Tempura, Fishball, Hard boiled eggs, banana cue, Gatorade, and sodas. "Bihon" may add up during weekends. Your 50 to 100 bucks will do this entire short ride.

The place is equipped with 2 tables and a few chairs that could accommodate more or less 15 bikers. The basketball courtside which is just beside the store could accommodate more bikers who'd love to take the opportunity of grasping some fresh air and hang their bikes on the bike racks provided.

Before arriving the bikers' comfort zone, you have to battle the breath-taking climbs to PC Hills all the way to Marco Polo Plaza. Then a short-distant flat road would give you a slight comfort all the way to Lahug Brgy. Hall followed by a quick climb to Hilltop Hotel.

An enjoyable downhill will follow before another climb from Mr. A all the way to Busay View Grill and you're almost there.

Short flats would pamper you all the way to Sto Niño Chapel before the last 2 steep climbs of Chateau De Busay and Busay Hiland. Usually, a lot of first-timers can't handle this climb and would get off their bike to humbly walk.

Perfect gear shifting is essential on this route, anticipate the climbs and shift to light gears especially to newcomers.

Willy's at last, reward yourself, grab a chair and fuel up with some snacks and drinks.

This route is ideal for aspiring climbers and especially to bikers who don't wanna miss a single day to ride. This route is also a good training ground for race enthusiasts and to some who don't want to be left behind during weekend rides - secret training they say.

Upon descent, be extra careful since we don't own the road, there are lots of motorcycles for hire, jeepneys and privately owned vehicles too. Check brakes and eyes on the road. Be cautious of dogs and children too since locals live by along sides.

Should you wish to catch up with some bikers, early weekday mornings and afternoons is a good time. The night ride is another challenge to but don't forget to strap on your blinkers. The weekend is a fest out there but one should not be intimidated nor feel shy, it's a good community out there, I tell you.

For Strava fans, this is also a great opportunity to show off your strength and Personal Records which allows you to boast and compete with fellow biker friends online. There's a lot of Strava Segments in this route, you might be the next K.O.M (King of the Mountain).

Since the pandemic started, nature tripping and outdoor activities became a fad.
Some awesome bikers took the initiative to build a bike park on Willy's backyard.
Pitik has also been a trend when you climb Busay.

Willy's Store and Residence was torn down since the area will be developed and commercialized

Oh by the way, before I forget, greet bikers along the way with your sweet smile. Some may smile back and some may not but it's a common habit to greet fellow bikers on the road.
