AMTA Insane Tour




What is AMTA?

AMTA Stands for Alliance of Mountain Trekkers and Adventurers. 

group of Mountain bikers and adventures based in Abuno, Minglanilla Cebu which started on the early 2000s.


What is Insane Tour?

Insane Tour is a traditional mountain bike tour around the Island of Cebu in 24 hours or less. 

It started some time in 2001 which the AMTA pioneers first toured Cebu in 4 days and lessened for the succeeding years until it was a tradition to finish it in 24 hours or less.

The tour will start at 4:00AM every last Saturday of November at the AMTA Station, Abuno Minglanilla, Cebu. 

All bikers should log their name at the AMTA Station, sign the waiver and claim their race number.

From Minglanilla going to Bogo then to San Remigio all the way to Tabuelan, Tuburan, Balamban, Asturias and Toledo then proceed to Pinamungajan and Aloguinsan. Then South comes in from Mantalungon, Barili all the way to Santander and Oslob down to Minglanilla.


Qualified Participants

All mountain bikers are welcome. AMTA or Non - AMTA Members.
Mountain bikes with tires not less than 1.75. regardless whether its 26er, 27.5 or 29er.


Registration Fee and Prize

Registration is Free.
No prize but AMTA will honor all participants and finishers with a Certificate.
Non-finishers are entitled to a Certificate of Participation.


Cut-Off Time

36 Hours but finishers who would finish beyond cut-off time will still be recognized.


Teams

Insane tour is a team-tour. 3 bikers or more.
In this way, the team would be able to select their desired members with equivalent speed, riding habit and tolerance.


Support Vehicle

Support Vehicle is a must. 
This would carry supplies such as food, water, bike parts, bikes, clothes etc.


Pit Stops

No official pit stops.
The team may decide when and where to eat.
Teams may decide to rest or sleep anytime within the duration of the tour.


Practice Rides

June 1 is when the Insane Tour  season is being officially opened.
A season of long rides.
Practice rides are done during Sunday prior to the insane tour.
A month or so, there'll be 2 brutal practice rides prior to the tour of insanity -Round North and Round South.


Rules

There are a lot of unwritten rules but are engraved to every AMTA Tourers heart.

Here are the basic rules observed as per implementation of the Tour Director - Romeo Delima. 

1. 
AMTA holds no responsibility in case of accident or incident that may cause liabilities on its part.

We don't own the road, so every biker is responsible for himself.

 2. No planned or intentional drafting on any motorized vehicle. Accidental/coincidental drafting is allowed to lucky guy. No grabbing or holding on any vehicle.

3. Towing or pushing is allowed. It is heroic.

4. Of course, wear always helmet.

5. Obey traffic rules. Road courtesy is a must.

6. If it is possible, start at the starting line for registration and documentation.

7. It is recommended that you go on pack with support and logistics. 
Lone biker must be protected through support vehicles at night.

8. Wear something for good visibility, and for others to know you are a part of the tour.

9. Inform your whereabouts during big stop. You will be given a cell number to contact thru text stating your team, time of arrival, and place. You will receive too, information of others. Always be true, concise, and honest in your info.

10. Please extend goodness to solo biker whether in trouble, lost or "nitira" by adopting him for hydration, fuel, or the likes.

11. Have photos, videos, and groupies

12. Sign waivers.

13. Be safe.

14. Don't worry, be happy. Be a happy biker. Additional minor rules may come up later, just stay tune.
